I started doing hair in 1977 when I was a teenager. I didn't go to school right away - I was able to go to a hair salon with my mom and watch them cut, color and perm her hair and then I would be able to go home and repeat the process on someone else. I also remember my mom waking me up early in the mornings so I could fix her hair for her because she had slept in rollers all night.
So my passion for doing hair began a long time ago... It wasn't until 1994 that my sister suggested I go to school and get my Cosmetolgy license so I could do hair full time. At the time I was a single parent - and had to move in with my sister and her family, so I could work full time and go to Cosmetology school in the evenings and on the weekends.
I finally received my Cosmetology license on September 11, 1996. I have worked at least in a part-time capacity doing hair since the day I had my license. I am now looking to work doing hair FULL TIME!
I guess you can say - that I have a natural nack for doing hair. I love doing color. There are so many things you can do with it! You can enhance your haircut... you can cover that unwanted gray...you can turn your hair purple if you want! The choices are endless! I also love doing Perms! You can add a few curls to perk up a style...you can give some body to a new look.....you can make yourself look like Shirley Temple if you want!
I was asked one time if there was anything in school that I learned to do - that I just didn't like doing and the only thing I could think of was "NAILS" - I know how to do them....I just prefer to play with hair instead!
